Heaven's Heart-Beatitudes 3

Reformation/Revival/Resurrection

What’s the difference between these words?

Reformation - Not specifically in the Bible

noun

  1. the action or process of reforming an institution or practice.

  2. a 16th-century movement for the reform of abuses in the Roman Catholic Church ending in the establishment of the Reformed and Protestant Churches.

  3. in an important sense, we see reformation of Judaism in what Jesus brought to the Jews. A messianic Jew is someone who has acknowledged their messiah as Jesus”

Revival - HANDY LINK

Resurrection - HANDY LINK

These are all things that people cry out for in the church.

When it comes to our theme for this month and how it relates to this topic of revival (and our other r’s), we are talking about Heaven’s heartbeat, and our heart

We’re talking the beatitudes and how they relate to the heart

“Blessed are the poor in spirit,
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

4 Blessed are those who mourn,
For they shall be comforted.

5 Blessed are the meek,
For they shall inherit the earth.

6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
For they shall be filled.

7 Blessed are the merciful,
For they shall obtain mercy.

8 Blessed are the pure in heart,
For they shall see God.

9 Blessed are the peacemakers,
For they shall be called sons of God.

10 Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake,
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11 Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. 12 Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

When we ask for reformation, revival and resurrection is what we are actually thinking and asking, “God change everyone else because I already want this?”

Let’s not think like that. When we think about these words let’s first think: what areas of my life need this? And what area do we as a team need this?

Starting with ourselves - the more we are personally living these things, the more we bring to the team

So what are some practical ways we can see Revival Reformation and Resurrection in our lives?

HOLY SPIRIT

  • BUILD YOURSELF UP IN YOUR MOST HOLY FAITH! (Jude 1:20)

  • It’s the Holy Spirit that raised Christ from the dead. If we wanna be revived, reformed or resurrected WE NEED THE SPIRIT (Romans 8:11)

HEART

  • Heart deceitful above all things (Jeremiah 17:9)

  • Given a NEW heart - (Exodus 36:26)

MIND

  • No longer walk in futility of mind Ephesians 4

- Put off old man

- Renewing of the mind

SPEACH

  • Taming the tongue (James 3)

    • Death and life in power of the tongue, those who LOVE it will eat it’s fruit (Proverbs 18:21)

    • RECEIVE correction in how you communicate!!! (Proverbs 19:20-29)

TRUTH

  • Not just telling the truth, but LIVING by THE Truth - who is the person Jesus (john 14:6)

FAITH

- Biggest key to faith = Hearing from God + Obedience (Romans 10:17, Romans 1:5)

HOPE:

  • Not wishful thinking, faithful applied believing

  • Romans 5:1-5 “Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 3 And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; 4 and perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.”

LOVE

  • Prayer is a love language

  • How much are we focused on ourselves, how much focused on others?

  • How much of our responses when we hear about things is our own experience, or going “GOD, I need a word”?

As a team we see the church born in scripture when the people were:

  • Gathered together

  • Expecting a move of God

  • In UNITY

The Holy Spirit fell AND CREATED THE CHURCH.

In what ways do we at mega apply unity to see the spirit move?

e.g.

  • Prayer jams (singing/saying same things together)

  • Understanding the WHY behind lyrics

  • Confrontation

  • Affirmation

  • Knowing the vision and mission and LIVING IT
