MISGIVINGS CAN BE POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE
POSITIVE MISGIVINGS
You know that feeling inside you get when you have said something you shouldn’t have – you have hurt someone with something you have said?
John 8:9 “And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst”.
Acts 8:9 And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.
Saul was there when Stephen was stoned to death by the Jews, Saul was imprisoning, beating Jews, causing havoc in the newly born church, trying to blot out ‘the way’. He was a zealot, and really thought he was doing what God would want him to do - God’s will! All the while he was doing this Jesus, by His Holy Spirit was stirring up Paul’s Spirit with feelings of doubt, apprehension, misgiving
Acts 8:9 scripture represents the turning point for Saul where he turned from murdering followers of Jesus (they weren’t yet called Christians at this point in time) to becoming just as zealous for Jesus.
Look what can happen when God is able to use our greatest strengths for HIS will and purposes.

Misgivings here then are a positive thing. When under the obedience of Jesus are a great gift for us. They can bring us to Repentance, they can give us an opportunity to warn others of when they are going astray…
Whenever you feel these types of feelings turn to God, ask Him what is going on… do we need to repent of something? Is God warning us of something coming up ahead? Does he want us to intervene in someone else’s life to bring good out of a bad situation?
NEGATIVE MISGIVINGS
Has anyone ever called you a ‘worry wort”? Yep I have been. At work I am surrounded by worriers. We have a project that has an extremely tight deadline and it is complex, and the end of that runway is fast approaching!
Matthew 6:25-34 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them.
