SEPT 22
INTRODUCTION
We are focusing on the destiny dynasty God has for us individually and as a team.
To lay out the ground rules, the bottom line -
I believe all mankind wishes to be great – (that’s why all the Hollywood movies)
I believe God placed that desire within each person’s heart – as the impetus to get us trying to reach out beyond our basic world to greater things
God has made the way for us to do just that – great things ..To enter into that and outwork it we need to be Born Again into God’s family - repent and get baptized for the remission of our sin and receive God’s gifts, salvation = eternal life, gift of the Holy Spirit – Acts 2: 38 and the gifts of the Holy Spirit - found in 1 Cor 12 – 14 , and Romans 12. Our destiny was planned before the foundation of the earth
We need the unction gifted to us
Focus on the function - given for a purpose and we ALL have a part to play
Junction – where heaven meets earth (Great word from Esther last Sunday) - our heart needs to be right. Become a new creation with a heart and then ..keep our heart with all diligence
Compunction - is about having a heart that has Godly backbone – another way of putting it is you have both commitment and conviction.
Examples:
1.Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego
Daniel 3 :17 If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. 18 But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.
2. Daniel and the Lions Den
Daniel 6 – whole chapter
10 Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.
3. Joseph and Potiphar’s wife
Genesis 39 And Joseph was brought down to Egypt; and Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, captain of the guard, an Egyptian, bought him of the hands of the Ishmeelites, which had brought him down thither. 2 And the Lord was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian. 3 And his master saw that the Lord was with him, and that the Lord made all that he did to prosper in his hand. 4 And Joseph found grace in his sight, and he served him: and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand. 5 And it came to pass from the time that he had made him overseer in his house, and over all that he had, that the Lord blessed the Egyptian’s house for Joseph’s sake; and the blessing of the Lord was upon all that he had in the house, and in the field. 6 And he left all that he had in Joseph’s hand; and he knew not ought he had, save the bread which he did eat. And Joseph was a goodly person, and well favoured. 7 And it came to pass after these things, that his master’s wife cast her eyes upon Joseph; and she said, Lie with me. 8 But he refused, and said unto his master’s wife, Behold, my master wotteth not what is with me in the house, and he hath committed all that he hath to my hand; 9 there is none greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back any thing from me but thee, because thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God? 10 And it came to pass, as she spake to Joseph day by day, that he hearkened not unto her, to lie by her, or to be with her. 11 And it came to pass about this time, that Joseph went into the house to do his business; and there was none of the men of the house there within. 12 And she caught him by his garment, saying, Lie with me: and he left his garment in her hand, and fled, and got him out.
4. Jeremiah and prophecy to the King
2 Chron 36: 12 “And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord his God, and humbled not himself before Jeremiah the prophet speaking from the mouth of the Lord.
5. Peter was put in prison Acts 5
6. Paul and Silas - Acts 16
7. Simon Peter
from a Reed to a Rock
from an evader to an Evangelist
from a Fisher of fish to fisher of men,
From a follower to a leader
From a cusser / curser to a convincing communicator
LUKE 22 - Whole Chapter vs .31 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: 32 but I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren. 33 And he said unto him, Lord, I am ready to go with thee, both into prison, and to death. 34 And he said, I tell thee, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, before that thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me.
We need conviction
The three key points of conviction - John 16: 8-13
Of sin – because they believe not – unbelief is at the root of all sin. Romans 1, Ps 19 (without excuse)
Of Righteousness – because Jesus has gone to the Father - in other words as believers, the Holy Spirit gives us the backbone to stand for the righteousness of faith in our own walks and in terms of preaching the gospel
Of Judgement – the prince of this world Satan is already judged – we have the victory
Biblically Informed Decision (B.I.D)
Lets acknowledge any unbelief
Ask God for His gift of the Holy Spirit if we have not yet received
A greater release of the Holy Spirit to strengthen our spiritual backbone
