GIFT TRIP

Romans 8:1-4 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,2 because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in the flesh, 4 in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

A recent gift trip I had

- Stolen Tools Story

Someone stole $2000 worth of my tools today.
As I discovered the tools were missing my heart cried out, God, why? To be a bit vulnerable here, I also thought in a moment of self righteousness, how could you let this happen to me while I’m helping clean up a house decimated by the Nashville tornado? He immediately replied, I forgave you for your sins. Will you forgive them for theirs?
I was hit in a fresh way by just how radical the message of Jesus is. His grace and His mercy are what we all need desperately.

IT’S A GIFT

Sometimes when people give you a gift it seems too good, The common phrase is  “it’s too good to be true”. I believe this is one of the issues people have with God. When they hear that salvation is a gift, they think it’s too good to be true. But when you think about it, if God has a fault and that fault is that He is “too good”, that’s very encouraging.

It’s the GOODNESS of God that leads to repentance.

ROMANS 2:4 Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?

Ephesians 2:8-10 8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

I AM SAVED, I’M BEING SAVED, I WILL BE SAVED.

Salvation is referred to in 3 different ways in the word.

- Am saved

2 Timothy 1:9  He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time,

- Being saved

1 Corinthians 1:18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

- Will be saved.

Romans 5:9  Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

I AM SAVED: JUSTIFICATION

- THE STATUS

Romans 1:17
Galatians 3:11
Hebrews 10:38
Habakkuk 2:4

SONS // CHILDREN

Servants: Works

Eze 46:17 But if he give a gift of his inheritance to one of his servants, then it shall be his to the year of liberty; after it shall return to the prince

Sons: Who we are

Eze 46:16 Thus saith the Lord GOD; If the prince give a gift unto any of his sons, the inheritance thereof shall be his sons'; it shall be their possession by inheritance.

John 1:12-13  But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: 13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

I AM BEING SAVED: SANCTIFICATION

- THE PROCESS

GET HOLY

Reinhard Bonnie - Without spot or wrinkle example.

Ephesians 5:26-27  that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, 27 that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.

TRANSFORM|ATION

Romans 12:1-2
2 Corinthians 3:18
Hebrews 12

I WILL BE SAVED: GLORIFICATION

- THE CLIMAX

Psalm 49:15, But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for he shall receive me. Selah.

Daniel 12:2-3
And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake,
Some to everlasting life,
Some to shame and everlasting contempt.
3 Those who are wise shall shine
Like the brightness of the firmament,
And those who turn many to righteousness
Like the stars forever and ever.

Romans 8:30 And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified;those he justified, he also glorified.

1 Corinthians 15:50-54  I declare to you, brothers and sisters, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. 51 Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed— 52 in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the deadwill be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. 53 For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. 54 When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.”

Matthew 5:48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

1 Peter 5:10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.
