Resurrection Life 2

Resurrection life

The Lamb that takes away the sin of the world: The lamb is Jesus and as the lamb of God Jesus takes away the sin of the world

In order to have resurrection life sin has to be overcome and removed which is exactly what Jesus did on the cross for the whole world

To have resurrection life there’s got to be a death – the sowing and reaping foundational Biblical principle – know this know the rest

This week we are going to explore further this sowing and reaping foundational Biblical principle as it relates to Jesus crucified and resurrected along with us as born again Bible believers taking up our cross. Just as in the natural the seed must go into the ground and die in order to bring forth fruitful crops so in the spiritual where the seeds are Jesus, the Word made flesh, the Lamb who was slain, and we, His disciples, the children of His kingdom who must take our cross daily and die to ourselves.

Lamb to the slaughter: The same spirit

AKA DEALING WITH DEATH WITH ABSOLUTE CONFIDENCE

Isaiah 53:7 He was oppressed and afflicted,
yet he did not open his mouth;
he was led like a lamb to the slaughter,
and as a sheep before its shearers is silent,
so he did not open his mouth.

These factors are paradoxical, juxtapositional, interrelated need to be integrated knowing what Jesus did on the cross should never be underestimated and the loving power of the Holy Spirit cannot be overrated

It all ties in with the preaching of the cross which is not so much informational, rather it is like a seed in the ground - it is transformational. Distinguish between our effort and God’s efficacy. We plow, sow, plant, water, fertilize, and the likes. God brings the increase via the death and resurrection of the seed we plant.

The seed is God’s word. The ground is our heart – The junction between heaven and earth

To take the information and achieve the transformation we need soul-winning wisdom and Holy Spirit revelation

When we have that we shift from bewilderment to be wonderment

From a life of hardness, of missing out, bitterness, jabbed with the thorns of the cares and temptations of this world into eternal destiny

From doomy gloom mystery to open heavens mastery

So let’s pray, open our hearts and minds, put aside apathy, lethargy, all offenses, and related bitterness, the pride of life, cares of this world, so the seed of God’s word goes into good soil and brings forth fruitfulness 30,60, 100 fold

We have three factors to prayerfully and carefully consider in the CONTEXT OF OUR TOPIC;

Slaughter, Same Spirit, and Relationship

SLAUGHTER - The process

Knowing the purpose makes sense of the process – knowing the process helps us achieve the purpose - to optimize our applied understanding of the process and exercise the necessary wisdom to maximize the excellence with which we achieve the purpose, we need the right power – that power is the loving power of the Holy Spirit

Living sacrifice
Genesis 22:7-8  Isaac spoke up and said to his father Abraham, “Father?”
“Yes, my son?” Abraham replied.
“The fire and wood are here,” Isaac said, “but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?”
Abraham answered, “God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.” And the two of them went on together.
Romans 12:1-2 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Psalm 44:11 Thou hast given us like sheep appointed for meat; and hast scattered us among the heathen
Psalm 44:22 Yea, for thy sake are we killed all the day long; we are counted as sheep for the slaughter. Natural perception without God leads to spiritual deception. Lamb to the slaughter to the natural mind seems gory.

Many find the slaughter of animals so offensive they choose to refrain from eating meat

Jesus Himself found the reality of facing death through crucifixion extremely hard to face, indeed excruciating to the point of sweating blood. God has determined in His wisdom that sacrifice is essential indeed the essence of acceptable , intelligent worship of true humility

The sting of death is sin

1 Corinthians 15:55-57 O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting? ”For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power. 57 But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Ultimately death is only scary if we do not have the conviction that death in the physical equates to immediate translation into the eternal presence of God – AKA Heaven!!!!!

Butchery: cruelty or master-craftsmanship?
Proverbs 9:1-2 Wisdom has built her house; she has carved out her seven pillars. She has slaughtered her meat, She has mixed her wine, She has also furnished her table.

Bible translation: filet mignon of the great commission, most succulent part of beef, most succulent part of discipleship – God’s word, no translation in heart language no discipleship

Meat a main on God’s menu:
John 4:34 Jesus said unto them, “My meat is to do the will of Him that sent Me, and to finish His work.

1 Timothy 4:3 Teaching not to eat meat is doctrine of demons

The fatted broccoli?? No, fatted calf (Luke 15)

Blessing of death
So many of life’s more meaningful, winsome, transforming moments involve death in one way or another

Dying to self
Seeking to save our lives including life of our nation leads to loosing it

Death: key to being Christlike
The burial of water baptism
Romans 6:1-11 Well then, should we keep on sinning so that God can show us more and more of his wonderful grace? Of course not! Since we have died to sin, how can we continue to live in it? Or have you forgotten that when we were joined with Christ Jesus in baptism, we joined him in his death? For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives. Since we have been united with him in his death, we will also be raised to life as he was. We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin. And since we died with Christ, we know we will also live with him. We are sure of this because Christ was raised from the dead, and he will never die again. Death no longer has any power over him. When he died, he died once to break the power of sin. But now that he lives, he lives for the glory of God. So you also should consider yourselves to be dead to the power of sin and alive to God through Christ Jesus.
Galatians 2:19-21 For I through the law died to the law that I might live to God. I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain.”

SAME SPIRIT - the power

Romans 8:11 But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.

Jesus the Christ

Not just Jesus the personal savior but Jesus Christ the anointed one who died to cover our sin, pay for the gift of eternal life and rose from the dead, ascended into heaven so we could receive the promise of the Father so we could have the unction to function the Spirit of prophecy in order to disciple all nations

Isaiah 61:1 The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners,to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion-- to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor.

Reality - God’s power platform

To have the same spirit that raised Christ from the dead means we need to face situations/feelings where it seems like death/like we are not capable of making it/overwhelming

Psalm 107 highlights Various life situations where this phenomenon occurs - solution: Give thanks to God whatever situation you’re in

Here’s a handy link to the whole Psalm

God is right there at the end of our natural strength, self-centered desires, and wit – God doesn’t just have the answer he is our answer, He desires relationship, supernatural relationship which is way more dynamic.

Biblical Hot topic

Jesus organizes life situations so that we can go supernatural and experience such exhilarating dynamics – vibrant , virtuous, vintage relational ecstasy, not just intimacy
John 17:3 eternal life to know , to have living relationship with God

Psalm 44:12 Thou sellest thy people for nought, and dost not increase thy wealth by their price.
Godliness is great gain
1 Timothy 6:3-10 Give proper recognition to those widows who are really in need. But if a widow has children or grandchildren, these should learn first of all to put their religion into practice by caring for their own family and so repaying their parents and grandparents, for this is pleasing to God. The widow who is really in need and left all alone puts her hope in God and continues night and day to pray and to ask God for help. But the widow who lives for pleasure is dead even while she lives. Give the people these instructions, so that no one may be open to blame. Anyone who does not provide for their relatives, and especially for their own household, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever. No widow may be put on the list of widows unless she is over sixty, has been faithful to her husband, 10 and is well known for her good deeds, such as bringing up children, showing hospitality, washing the feet of the Lord’s people, helping those in trouble and devoting herself to all kinds of good deeds.
