MATTHEW CONNECTION #2
Notes provided by: Caleb Eversmith
Theme: Matthew Connection
A more sure integrated end times parabolic, prophetic perspective from The Gospel of Matthew chapters 24 and 25 on what is to come and what to do about it.
TOPIC: Eternally entrepreneurial
Definition.
Entrepreneur:
“Someone who commits oneself to and begins an enterprise or responsibility.
Our World is significantly impacted by entrepreneurial endeavor. Apple. Google. Tesla (ELON AND NIKOLA). Microsoft. Thomas Edison. Henry Ford. Sam Walton. Amadeo Giannini (Credit Cards, Bank of America, Transamerica).
These are people who made something, from nothing. WE as christians are called to do this in a much more significant way. You see, we’re called to be ETERNALLY Entrepreneurial. What’s better than viral? Eternal! And while making world changing products is cool, and something christians can certainly do professionally, our calling is higher. We’re called to creatively LEAD PEOPLE TO JESUS.
Matthew 25:14-30
14 “For the kingdom of heaven is like a man traveling to a far country, who called his own servants and delivered his goods to them. 15 And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each according to his own ability; and immediately he went on a journey. 16 Then he who had received the five talents went and traded with them, and made another five talents. 17 And likewise he who had received two gained two more also. 18 But he who had received one went and dug in the ground, and hid his lord’s money. 19 After a long time the lord of those servants came and settled accounts with them.
20 “So he who had received five talents came and brought five other talents, saying, ‘Lord, you delivered to me five talents; look, I have gained five more talents besides them.’ 21 His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’ 22 He also who had received two talents came and said, ‘Lord, you delivered to me two talents; look, I have gained two more talents besides them.’ 23 His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’
24 “Then he who had received the one talent came and said, ‘Lord, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you have not sown, and gathering where you have not scattered seed. 25 And I was afraid, and went and hid your talent in the ground. Look, there you have what is yours.’
26 “But his lord answered and said to him, ‘You wicked and lazy servant, you knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not scattered seed. 27 So you ought to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I would have received back my own with interest. 28 So take the talent from him, and give it to him who has ten talents.
29 ‘For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away. 30 And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’
THE MINDSET & HEART ATTITUDE
Ephesians 4:11-24
He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, 13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; 14 that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, 15 but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ— 16 from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.
17 This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind, 18 having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart; 19 who, being past feeling, have given themselves over to lewdness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.
20 But you have not so learned Christ, 21 if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: 22 that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, 23 and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, 24 and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.
The church must be Apostolic. Our authority is delegated. Everything we have is ALL God’s. When we’re given 5 talents, and make 5 more, ALL 10 are God’s.
Those that HAVE.
The cry of the world is take from the Haves and give to the Have Nots. Jesus teaches here, take from the Have Nots and give to the Haves.
You may not like that, but Humility is to acknowledge that God’s ways are above ours, and so if we disagree with Him on something, we’re the ones in the wrong.
Responsibility. THE MORE REWARDS, THE MORE RESPONSIBILITY Statistic - 60% of churchgoers are women.
Responsibility
Wisdom of God Vs wisdom of the world. Faith. Kingdom entrepreneurship will take actions that will seem like folly to the world. The administers need faith also. It’s wisdom, because ultimate wisdom is obedience to God.
Productivity. What’s more productive than harvesting for the church?
Buried or Planted? Both in the soil. One is to death, one is to life. The difference is the heart attitude
WHAT DO YOU HAVE?
ANOINTING
TIME
RESOURCE
CREATIVITY
POTENTIAL
DISCIPLES
THE GIVING
- the sheep and the goats parable. Those who gave to the least of these are those known by Jesus
blessed to be a blessing
THE BID
Does Jesus know you?
Commit to planting, not burying. Leading people to Christ as an eternal entrepreneur.
