CREATE TO RELATE #2
ULTIMATE CREATIVITY
INTRO
Review of last week
Relationship is first about being and then about doing
It's one thing to know about someone but it is another to be in relationship with that person
Ultimate creativity
Ultimate creativity is that which builds and grows Godly relationship
1. GOD SETS THIS RELATIONAL PRIORITY
From Genesis Chapter 1 to Revelation 22 God’s entire book and kingdom purpose are primarily about relationship
Matt 22: 37 Jesus said unto him, thou shall love the lord your god with all you heart, and all your soul, and all your mind. 38 this is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it, Thou shall love your neighbor as yourself 40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
God is the ultimate creator therefore he has the authority to set this priority
Mat 6:29 “ Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed as one of these”
God’s creation surpasses all of man’s. Thus totally reasonable for the ultimate creator to determine the ultimate purpose for creativity. Also, it is God our creator who gave each of us our generic creative capacity and specific creative gifts.
God makes this relational priority blatantly obvious
Psalm 19: 1 -6 1The heavens declare the glory of God and the firmament shews his handywork, 2 Day unto day utters speech, and night unto night shows knowledge. 3There is no speech or language, where their voice is not heard. 4 Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them has he set a tabernacle for the sun, 5 which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoices as a strong man to run a race. 6 His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it, and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.
Romans 1:20 “For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse”.
Gathering, God’s relational priority
To gather is to relate. As the day gets closer we are called to gather more and more.
Hebrews 10:25 “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another; and so much more, as you see the day approaching.”
Luke 4:16 “And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up; and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day”.
Psalm 87: 2 “The Lord loves the gates of Zion more than all the dwellings of Jacob”.
The Church – the Ultimate purpose for God’s relational priorities
Matthew 16:18 “Upon this rock I will build my church”.
Eph 5: 26 – 32
Revelation 19:1 -9 the Marriage of the lamb
Revelation 21: -whole chapter, particularly vs 2, 9 – 10
Revelation 22:17
2. GOD CREATED US FOR THIS PRIORITY
Gen 1: 26 “And God said, let us make man in our image, after our likeness”.
Ephesians 4: 11 – 13
I Corinthians 12 – 14 - whole chapters
Romans 12: 1-8
1 Peter 2:4 - 9
3. LOVE: GOD'S KEY TO ULTIMATE CREATIVITY
God is Love
1 John 4:8 He that loves no knows not God for God is love
1 John 4: 16 “And we have known and believed the love that God has to us. God is love and he that dwells in love dwells in God and God in him”.
The Cross – The ultimate expression of God’s love
John 15:13 “Great love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends”
Romans 5:10 “When we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life”.
The scope and purpose of God’s love
John 3: 16: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son that whoever believes on Him will have eternal life.
Love is the more excellent way
1 Cor 12:31 “ I show you a more excellent way”
Biblical Love
I Corinthians 13: 1 “Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. 2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned,[a] but have not love, it profits me nothing.
4 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; 5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; 6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
8 Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part. 10 But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away.
11 When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things. 12 For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.
13 And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.’
1 John 4:20 “If a man say, I love God, and hates his brother, he is a liar, for he that loves not his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God, whom he has not seen?”
