COLLABORATIVE LEADERSHIP

INTRODUCTION

What is leadership?  And what is it to collaborate?

What is Leadership?

Difference between leading and managing - it is possible that one can manage a situation  / people but not lead anyone

The optimum leadership style is where both leading and managing occur successfully and where success means that the team as a whole grows in its leadership and  management both individually and severally  - together - and particularly where the sense of belonging and team identity are core elements of the success ''bottom  lines''.

What is it to Collaborate?

To optimize our collaboration we need to use all our faculties, physical, emotional, intellectual , spiritual, - fruit of the Spirit  - what is our Spirit ?

Collaborative leadership does not mean lots of rulers are a good idea :

Proverbs 28:2 For the transgression of a land many are the princes thereof: but by a man of understanding and knowledge the state thereof shall be prolonged.

No free zone  - a healthy, collaborative culture encourages all team members to feel welcome to contribute their ideas and equally all team members also grow to still feel they belong when their idea is not taken up or needs to be amended.  In meaningful collaboration team members need to grow in their willingness to make themselves vulnerable and grow in their emotional maturity .  A great indicator of emotional maturity and champion level collaboration is where team members enthusiastically put forward their ideas for consideration in public, in front of the team free of any sense of insecurity and the need to have their ideas discussed in private.
